AUGUSTA Ga - Stop teen violence! That's the mission behind a new mentor group trying to reach out to young men. A mentoring program called Positive Boys Positive Men is a program that trying to help young boys and teens go down the right path.

"It's about the youth their future and sometimes we have to put things aside that we want to do to makes sure they are taking care of," said Neely Lovett, Founder of Positive Boys Positive Men.

The program teaches young men to play an active role in the community.

"We teach the young men how to be a productive young man in the schools and community. We teach them about etiquette, discipline, pulling your pants up, having respect for their peers and parents and just being great leaders," said Lovett.

This program gives these young men extra support when a male role model is missing from their lives.

"Just knowing somebody is there that cares for you," said Lovett. "A lot of times most of the kids are turning to the streets because they feel like they are lacking something at home so we try to reach out to them if through athletics or just coming to a game."

"Coach asked what you learned today? What did you do different today? He said 'I pulled my pants up,' I like those new things," said Javen Jones, who is involved in the program.

No worry, no doubt, no fear, words that they instill in these Positive Boys Positive Men to let them know they can do anything if they keep God first and do their best.

"No doubt, no worry, no fear is just being more than a conqueror, having your head up, speaking with boldness and not fearing anything and trying to help the people in their community," said Marvin Marshall, former professional football coach and mentor.

That's help that Coach Lovett says he will do his best to give.

"We can't save the world but probably make a difference in their life," said Lovett.

It's a difference that may keep these kids off the streets and out of jail.

The mentoring program meets every other Saturday at Hephzibah High School. If you are interested in volunteering or want to get involved please call 706 495-8636.
