AUGUSTA, Ga. - NBC Augusta 26 News has learned Superintendent Dana Bedden could be leaving for Irving, Texas, sooner than expected.

President of the Board of Trustees for the Irving Independent School District, Jerry Christian, tells 26 News that Bedden and his family will be in Irving March 12 to finalize his contract with the school district. The district will have a reception to welcome Bedden and his family before the official board meeting.

Christian says they are negotiating with Bedden and his attorney. He says Bedden has approved the last version of the contract.

Bedden's contract with Richmond County ends at the end of July. But Irving has asked him to try to get out of his contract early. Christian says he believe Bedden has already discussed this with Richmond County board members.

The Richmond County school board is expected to meet on Tuesday to discuss his contract.
