EVANS, Ga. - For many people, pets are like family. So, losing one in a house fire can be devastating.
Thanks to an anonymous donor, Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue now has a smoke inhalation mask for pets.
It came in the mail a few weeks ago from www.bark10-4.com.
"The majority of dogs and other animals that die in house fires are due to smoke inhalation and this will be able to take care of that problem-might be able to save a lot more animals by having these devices available to us," said Captain Robert Rosier with Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue.
The goal, Captain Rosier said, is to have a set of three masks on every truck.
