HARLEM, Ga. - The former public works director for the city of Harlem has been sentenced to a year and a day for violations of the Clean Water Act.

Daniel Cason was sentenced on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to charges back in March.

He admitted to falsifying water-quality reports that included measurements of fecal coliform and biochemical oxygen demanding materials.

The judge also stated Cason knowingly pumped a pollutant from the sewage plant into Euchee Creek.

Besides jail time, Cason must pay a $3,000 fine.
